I've asked all my tech buddies. I've tried techsupport on Reddit. And people quickly run out of ideas what might be causing this. So I figured maybe if I ask here some other MC player has experienced teh same problem.
PSU: (I don't have the link as I bought it in a store, but I think it's a 750 watt corsair)
I've got water cooling on my CPU, a spot fan on my chipset and a bottom-mounted PSU, the fan of which also helps cool the GPU.
If I run Civilization IV, it can get into the 50s Celsius. But it doesn't crash.
When I run MC, if the temp gets to 44Âșc for too longe (ie: a couple minutes) then my monitor goes either black, or looks like a graphic glitch got repeated over the entire screen (like a random blue repeating pattern). Sometimes the sound continues unabated for about 30 seconds, other times it just buzzes. It requires a hard boot to recover.
This basically means I can't play at all in summertime, as it heats up to 44c in under a minute.
The troubleshooting log notes nothing. I've replaced all the drivers with the newest I can find.
I'm at my wit's end with this, and am about ready to just give up on MC, which is one of the few games I really love.
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I'd love to hear it. Please.
Did you ever take that fan contraption off of your GPU?
If you did that did you use a proper thermal paste when you put it back on?
If you didn't reapply paste then you messed up its ability to properly cool your GPU.
