Hey, I'm having some problems with starting my Minecraft. Whenever it opns, after I log in, I just get an error message: Minecraft has stopped running because it encountered a problem; Failed to start game
I am running a 7-year-old Mac OSX, but it normally runs Minecraft fine at max settings with no lag. Here's the error report:

Well, I tried the LWJGL auto-updater (Made sure it had 2.9.0 selected), but my MC still won't open correctly. But now, instead of going to a crash screen, it shows the "Updating Minecraft" screen for a few seconds and either gets stuck there or freezes on a black screen.

Instead of using the auto updater, try doing it manually. I suggest doing a force update prior to doing so.
