So there's this particular map that I created in Hardcore mode before 1.5. I have updated my game to 1.5 and all the changes seem to be working on the surface world (ex: I can create the hopper and dropper, etc).
Unfortunately, I cannot seem to immediately find any Nether quartz in the Nether. Is this because these are blocks and therefore cannot will not spawn because of the old seed or something?
I would very much prefer to keep this map and continue playing with the ability to mine the Netherquartz in the Nether. However, I fear that I will not be able to for some reason that I am unaware of. Is there anyone who can shed some light on this topic/anything I can do to continue playing with the appropriate changes in the underground world?

well are you searching on the land that was loaded before 1.5? if so you need to continue out to new land that hasn't been loaded before.
