Ok So i got a new computer, everything is new, i can run like crysis, bioshock, devil may cry, etc. But i just can't run minecraft, when i open minecraft, it saids can't connect to minecraft.net and also said not downloaded. But my old computer can play minecraft. My new computer is better than the old one on anything, better graphic card, more ram, and other stuff. when i got the files from my old computer, and i run it, it turned black screen. I have never seen these kind of problems before, i tried reinstall minecraft or java, did not work. So can someone plzzzz help me.

If it says it's not downloaded, then all I can say is that it isn't downloaded or hasn't downloaded correctly.

I take it you are downloading the .exe from minecraft.net?

Your firewall is most likely blocking Java from connecting to minecraft.net. Open your firewall options for whatever firewall you are using and create a rule that allows java.exe outbound tcp and udp connections and javaw.exe inbound and outbound tcp and udp connections. Use either windows firewall or the one that came with your anti-virus if you have it but never try to use both, pick one and disable the other.

Edit: What you download from Mojang is only minecraft.exe, you have to be able to connect from the launcher via java to download the .minecraft folder content, so if your firewall is blocking you then the (Not Downloaded) message makes sense.

how do i do that??? i am not sureit saids java is allowed

It saids that it is allowed and i tried to force update it and give my old files to it and it did not work

You need to have both java.exe and more importantly for the game javaw.exe allowed, java only needs outbound connections allowed but javaw needs inbound and outbound connections allowed. I can't tell you how to do it because it depends on your operating system and firewall program, that part you may have to find instructions for online, sorry.

In my firewall permissions list java appears FOUR times.

Java™ Platform SE Binary jxpiinstall.exe (outbound only)
Java™ Platform SE Binary java.exe (outbound only)
Java™ Platform SE Binary javaw.exe (inbound and outbound)
Java™ Update Scheduler jusched.exe (outbound only)

Yours should be identical if you have enabled Java update checking (jusched.exe) and have ever used the downloaded Java installer (jxpiinstall.exe) from their website rather than just getting updates from an already installed version.

I'd delete minecraft and reinstall it.

i did and for some reason i think it is because of java, for some reason when i finished downloading java, and it told me to verify it, and it said i do not have java plugin installed, i clicked that to install it and it brings me back to download the latest version of java

I'm not using windows firewall but yes that looks like your at the right place, now just make sure that the Java™ Platform SE Binary entry that is for Javaw.exe is allowed both inbound and outbound tcp and udp connections.

what do you mean unistall java completely from the control panel how can you do that?

Open your control panel, click Programs/Uninstall a program, find java in the list, right click it, click uninstall. Wait for the uninstall to complete, reboot your computer even if it does not ask you to, and then go here and click on the "Free Java Download" button...

Once you have downloaded the installer close your web browser (so that it will install the java plug-in to your default browser too) and then run the installer to re-install the current version of Java.
