Minecraft Launcher closes itself after hitting "Log In"

Hi! So Minecraft has always worked fine on my computer, and I do have a fairly powerful gaming rig. Here are my specs:

i5-3570k @ 4.4ghz
8 GB RAM
HD 7950
Windows 8

But recently, when I try to log in, the minecraft launcher just closes itself! Anyone have any solution?

EDIT: I also fail to log in. I deleted my minecraft folder, and now when it fails to log in, I can't download the client.

EDIT2: I messed up my password, I can log in. It still closes itself, though.
