My mob farm is completely sealed off with no light sources, yet it's always light inside(more so during day). I have went through several times placing and destroying blocks to fix this but after some time the bug always comes back. So is there any way to permanently fix this, and how does it happen in the first place so I can try to avoid it in the future?
Where is your entrance? Is it in the cross-section above you? And would mind including a screen shot of that? (I think your problem may be the light being let in by the block you're using as a door or something of that like)
There is no entrance, I just broke through the wall to get in(I replaced the blocks once inside). Above me in the screenshot are two more layers that look exactly like the one I'm standing on. Below me are water channels moving to a 1x1 opening in the center. I have built this design before and never seen this bug before updating to 1.5.
I don't think it's a visual bug as the spawn rates are very low, which is why I bothered to look in in the first place. As I mentioned in my original post I already went through and "fixed" this by placing and destroying blocks. The problem is that it keeps coming back. I googled this and it seems like a common bug so I thought someone on this forum might know exactly what causes it so I can prevent it in the future.
This is the best explanation of how to go about fixing your issue:
The two main causes which are addressed in that video are phantom light sources for example where a torch was, which are solved by placing then removing a block in the place the torch once was. The second is filling any diagonals where light tends to seep through now since 1.3 which is when this video was made.
Thanks
Do you have your brightnes settings on anything other than the default "Moody"?
How bright is light? Can you provide screen shots?

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
