Even if I force Update, it still shows the crash... it shows the Mojang screen and then the crash screen!

Have you tried completely uninstalling all minecraft stuffs on your computer, then getting a whole new copy of the game off the website? I had a similar error a few game versions ago; that fixed it.

This is usually from a bad option in your .minecraft/options.txt file. Perhaps a language selection that is no longer valid.
If you don't mind resetting your settings to the default then you can just remove this file. Otherwise you could try reconfiguring your options in minecraft if you can get that far, or renaming options.txt to options.bak if you want to try to save some of your choices.
