I purchased Minecraft on 4/10. I downloaded and it worked for about 5 minutes. The program stalled, I couldn't move anything.
I downloaded again and I get the window that says "Run", I click that and can find the icon in my downloads folder. Sometime I get another "Run" window, sometimes not, whatever, it does not launch.
Also, when I download I get the setup icon and the launch icon. After not working I throw both away and try again with no success.
Can anyone offer a solution? Mojang doesn't seem to have a direct support system.
Java is installed. I had v 6 and was prompted to upgrade to 7. I did get a set up icon and the grass block launcher icon three times when I re-downloaded, but could not get the program to launch. I always threw the non-working icons in the trash and restarted in hopes that it would clear the system and start working properly. The last couple time that I've downloaded, I've only gotten the launcher icon.
They always show up in my downloads folder. I've tried moving them to the desktop, no success. I don't have enough hair to tear any out, so I have to stop and go to my happy place occasionally.
What's up? Two responses and they both have questions, not solutions.
I'm getting the idea that Mojang is not a very upstanding company. They just take my money and if their product doesn't work it doesn't matter, they're happy.
I'm not new to computers or downloading. I know that products I download come with some risk, but absolutely no tech support is crazy.
I'll keep working on this issue and I'm sure I can make it work, but the lack of help is a big disappointment.
We are asking questions so we can get further information on your problem and than we will give solutions.
Have you had minecraft working at all on your current computer? Is this your first time buying it?
I made my original purchase through CNET and their site gave me the set up icon. It also gave me a bunch of garbage that I did not want even after I clicked the check box off.
I am making progress. I did a restore on my system and re-installed from the original e-mail link from Mojang. The program launches, but all I'm getting is a black screen, no title page or world options yet. I'm hoping to get there soon.
I realize you must ask questions to understand what I've done. I'm not questioning your wisdom. I'm just getting a little frustrated with the struggle.
After I got the program to run, as far as the black screen, I re-installed Java 7. No help, but I don't think it did any harm either.
I appreciate your help and patients. I can still play on my tablet to get my fix, but these old yes need a bigger screen.
