I noticed after recently updating to Mountain Lion, that the pick up item sound when you walk over an item, say a sapling, hardly makes any sound, even when I increase the game volume. Anyone else having this issue? Any fixes?
OP - I have the exact problem. (Minecraft 1.5.1, Mountain Lion 10.8.3) All other game sounds seem to work just fine though.
It's hardly game breaking, but it IS nice to walk over a ton of loot and hear that lovely sound!
I haven't noticed any difference personally, but updating LWJGLmight help.
Thanks man. Browsed around the googles and found a fix similar to your suggestion and worked perfectly. It was a Java/Mac issue, not a Minecraft issue.
How did you fix the problem? I'm on a Mac 10.8.3 and minecraft 1.5.1 and i'm having the same problem...
I tried updating LWJGL but still not working. Please!
Hey!
I have heard 10.8.3 is a bit worse off then 10.8.2 which is what I'm on. But as far as updating LWJGL. The only thing you need to update is the bin/natives/openal.dylib library to latest stable version from http://lwjgl.org/download.php.
so download the latest version (2.8.5 i believe), then open the file. go to mac -- natives --openal.dylib. Then i just dragged that into the minecraft.jar/bin/natives folder and replaced the existing one. worked for me. PM me if you have any other issues and we will try to get it worked out.
Playing in 1.5.1 btw.

Stay on the main menu for 5 minutes or more then play the game and you sould hear some sounds.
It mostly fix sound problem by reloading the resources.

What issues? Just curious because I haven't seen any yet. I'll try 2.8.4 though. Thanks
