Launcher won't start in virtualbox with ubuntu.

I am running win7 as my host OS. I have the latest version of virtual box, running latest version of Ubuntu with latest version of OpenJDK.

I downloaded minecraft.jar. Tried to run it as it is, and it doesnt run. I tried specifically running the launcher class, and it doesn't run.

In both cases there are no errors, no warnings or messages. I just get the console prompt.

Am I missing something? anybody have an idea?

You don't download Java JDK for Minecraft, you need Java JRE.
