So this just started the other day and Its been bugging me and it sorta prevents me from playing the game. So say you press the w or forward key and then let go but you keep moving? I have had this happen to me or the back key or jump key. It's very annoying. It's not my keyboard. I've tried two different keyboards and the same happens to both. I've forced updated, re-installed minecraft ten times and changed all my settings. I'm out of ideas on what to do. Can anyone please help me?
This can happen when you alt-tab out of the window (or any time you press ALT) while holding down the key. To make it stop, just press the "stuck" key again.
Good question. Are you using the SteelSeires Merc Stealth keyboard? every now and again i have that issue with it. all i have to do is tap on the W key a bit and it irons itself out.

Happens to me all the time, just repress the stuck key. I even use it to my advantage when doing things like flying long distances or building long walls. Anyway, again, repress the stuck key or press the Alt key and then click the Minecraft screen.
Lol well everyone thanks for the helpful tips..I figured out that it was my recording software that was doing it And FYI I have a semi new logitech wireless keyboard, and a dell corded keyboard that I just started to use (I don't have new batteries for my other keyboard and they are dying) I am also on a oldish windows vista computer I was pressing ALT and the stuck key and Esc but it would return in a couple of seconds. And it did only start happening after 1.5.1 :/ Anyway thanks everyone
Mine only started after I installed Windows 10 and running all versions of MC, up to 1.10.2. I'm using a Microsoft Wired Keyboard 200 and my mouse is fine.
I am having this problem as well; it started recently, when playing a modded instance using the MultiMC launcher, but also is happening in my 1.10.2 umodded instance. It's not particularly common and I thought it had gone away, but now it just happened again.
Lol, so this does happen to me sometimes. Now, I use a laptop, and I never 'tab out', I always, always minimize minecraft. The only time I have it happen, is when minecraft gives me the white screen of not responding. Just tapping the key again doesn't work. Opening my inventory or reopening the world (logging off the world, then relogging on) does tend to work.

You think magic isn't real? Consider this: for every person, there is a sentence -- a series of words -- which has the power to destroy them.
