My computer is an awesome computer, it isn't old and I just got it for Christmas. However, I have to put it on short render or it gets a bit slow on MC. Yet, I still have pretty bad lag when I am near lava. My particles are on minimal and every now and then I put my graphics on 'fast.' Is there anything I could do to reduce the slow FPS when I approach lava? It is really annoying! In Killion, I lag a lot because C-Block has a lot of lava in it and it gets very frustrating. Even if I'm just on creative, If I place a bucket of lava I have to fly out because of my lag. I never complain about lag, but I'd like to know if I could fix this, thanks. I may just have to deal with it!
I have a feeling that the lag might be caused by sound issues. Try disabling your sound.
If that doesn't work, try updating LWJGL.
I'd also like to see your computer's DxDiag.

I saw something in the comments of one of Direwolf20's videos about his huge lava machine thing. Lava has to use resourses on your PC for 2 things, The animation of the lava itself and the Sounds that Lava makes. If you remove the sound files for lava you should get reduced lag. Atleast thats what i got out of the comment. see if that helps also
