Alrighty then: I need to get back my minecraft.jar file of 1.4.7. I have a windows 8 computer. I am currently in 1.5.1 so I need to downgrade. I know I go to run and type %appdata% and enter it and go under roaming then .minecraft but what do I do after that?
Under the bin folder in .minecraft, you should see your minecraft.jar file. Right click, click properties in the context menu, navigate to the previous versions tab, and select a time to which you would like to restore. Apologies if this is slightly different/etc in Windows 8, I don't/will not use it. Also, if a restore point is not available for a time that has your desired version, you can try a third-party service or tool. I have never used any of these, although I've heard of one before... MC Nostalgia or something similar?
This should help you get 1.4.7 back. You can find your .minecraft folder at %appdata%/.minecraft (Copy and paste the address into your explorer bar). If it's not there, it's in the 'Roaming' part of the App Data folder.
