Hello everyone! I have a question, and I am hoping you guys will have an answer. Here is my question: I want to delete all of my texture packs, all of my mods, and everything else EXCEPT one of my maps. My Minecraft is really messed up, because I have installed mods the wrong way, the "default" texture pack isn't actually the default texture pack, even though it says that it is... I have screwed up my .jar folders... I just want to start over with the whole game. How would I go about doing this? Remember, there is one map that I really want to keep, but if it would be easier for me to just delete it, then I would be willing to do that if push comes to shove... What do you mean by "Run Minecraft then put the save you want to keep back in?"

How do I get the new Minecraft files though? Do I need to go to Mojang's website and re-download the game?

After you delete the .minecraft folder when you restart minecraft it will redownload all of the files for the game automatically.
