Hey all, this is indeed my first post, so if I do anything wrong, cut me some slack and let me know. So, I have a Samsung series 7 chronos, with a 3rd gen i7 processor, NVidia GeForce 640m graphics card, 8gb of RAM, and 1TB hard drive, but when I play minecraft I lag. It started out fine, but after a day or two I started to lag a lot. I just got this laptop less than a week ago, and it kind of makes me angry. How can I fix this lag?
I would guess that it's frame lag, so where can I download optifine?
You can tell if it's frame lag if you hit F3 and look at the FPS counter at the top left. If it's under 40 then it's frame lag. On another note, Minecraft is horribly unoptimized so it's not surprising that a decent laptop like yours has trouble with it. Optifine should help.

60FPS is perfect, 50 FPS is really good, 40 FPS is good, 30FPS is good, 20FPS is ok, 10FPS is lag.
If under 40FPS is lag, then how come console games display their games at 30FPS.
I'm just fine with 10 fps, 5-3 fps to me means lag.
I praise with 16+fps
What software do you two use to play Minecraft?

I was once an ordinary Steve thinking about rainbows when I was struck by lightning to death, but still, my big thought about rainbows, brought me back to life. Now, living as Death, using the power of rainbows in accordance with life and death

Also, Thank you for putting the idea of Optifine. Still, I can go through about 36 fps yet it can go to 0 fps in my Mob Canyon and Mob Spawner Trap

Make sure you're running your nVidia processor. Go to the desktop, right click and select "nVidia control panel" (or something similar, my Win partition is broke ATM so I can't check), then under 3D settings (I think) go to the drop down menu at the top and change it to "High Performance nVidia processor" (it will normally be on auto or Intel's processor).
Also try Optifine, the lag may be due to your hard drive not being able to keep up. Optifine works well if you play around with the chunk loading/saving settings.

I did tried Optifine telling that I have now reached 36 fps but was now changed unto 45 fps today.(Meaning:I tried Optifine and it went to 36 fps) Without Optifine, I mostly reach 12-14 fps with mobs.

If framerate lag, try installing optifine.
If server lag, if you are running wireless internet, try running wired, does it still happen?
