I am running my laptop on the most recent version of Lubuntu (Linux).
Dell Latitude D610.
32-bit.
768 MB of Ram.
I'm having an issue with my save files...
I have about 9 save files on my Minecraft but only 4 of them show up when I click Single Player
They still show up in the .minecraft/saves folder and theyre all look the same when I click on them to see if they all have the same stuff in them.
I don't know why theyre not showing up and i would really like my save files back to being playable.
PLEASE HELP ME.
that worked....sort of
there's absolutely nothing in the world
should I try a different world that works or something else
Travuersa...
Update to what i just said
I changed the render distance and things started to load but its not the same world I had and none of the things I had build are there

Did you accidentally use MC edit when your minecraft world was open?
You're probably in the right world, but your position isn't going to be near something you'd recognize. Try using a map viewer to look for the position of your buildings.
Sorry about this but i forgot to mention before that the map I tried Travuersa's idea on was a Superflat map
As in the one I copied from wasn't Superflat and the one that I wanted to try to get back first is Superflat so i don't know if that will make a difference or cause problems but it's why i think after i changed the render distance and everything started showing up (rendering) that there was a really flat area and i explored it and found my stuff i built but i found something else weird with it...
what do you all think?also no i didnt use mc edit because i can't get it to work on my laptop and i don't know hot to
also with the pic of my map the weird thing is the particles in the air
they're only 2 blocks high and then theyre not there and its like theyre supposed to be smoke or something
i dont know how to get rid of them
The particles are void fog, because you are near bedrock. There's special handling of that in Superflat worlds, but the fact that the world is a Superflat world is saved in the level.dat
All your worlds are saved in the current Anvil format, right? None in a pre-McRegion format?

what do you mean by "All your worlds are saved in the current Anvil format, right? None in a pre-McRegion format?"
Minecraft is on it's third(?) version of save formatting. The current version of minecraft only understands the current version (anvil) and the one version prior (mcregion).
If your saves are full of MCR (.mcr) files, then that is mcregion. If the directories are full of MCA (.mca) files, then that is Anvil. If they have many many many DAT (.dat) files, then that is alpha format and can't be read by the current version of minecraft.
I think I understand but I'll let you see it this way so you can understand
Don't forget I am running on Lubuntu, 32 bit, 768 MB Ram, 50 GB hard drive
Also I do use mcpatcher 3.0.1 for my texturepacks
my saves all have folders in them
for ex.
open .minecraft folder
open saves folder
save name: !
folders in ! -
-DIM1 - Region folder - files in folder are .mca format
-DIM-1 - Region folder - files in folder are .mca format
-Region - files in folder are .mca format
-Data - files in folder are .dat format
-Players - files in folder are .dat format
then there is also -
session.lock --- (properties say the file type is unknown)
level.dat_mcr
level.dat
level.dat_old
all 3 of the level.dat folders are gzip type of files
all of my safe files are the same way
hope this helps
For some reason I never thought about the fact that the void fog was turned off in superflat worlds.
Zerogravity since it's superflat you could just generate a new superflat world then use MCedit to copy your build area over to that new world. Probably be the quickest fix to get you back to how things were.

Back up your saves, and then try to copy the level.dat file from a save file that works to one that does not.
This will reset your seed, but you should still have the world.
The name will be the same as the file you copy the level.dat file from, so you'll need to rename it in Minecraft.

Minecraft has also been lagging a lot lately

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
