Hello Forum; I bought Minecraft online from Mojang but I have some doubts about the game. For one, whenever I try to follow a tutorial, the game sometimes does not respond the way it should from the tutorial. I also never get a created World different from one that has a lot of vegetation, a lot of steps, no coal, etc. And when I downloaded the game, I thought I did everything right, but one of the Worlds that was listed the very first time I started the game was one that said, "Demo". So my question is; even though I paid for it, how do I know if I have the full game instead of just a demo? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Thanks for the input everyone. Well, as far as the "demo" world goes, I accidentally deleted it so I don't know if it had a timer or not. And when I create a new world in single player, they all look the same; lots of vegetation, lots of 'steps' no level plains, etc. And when I try to follow a tutorial, some of the things in the tutorial don't seem to be in the game. For instance, one part of a beginner's tutorial told me to find coal but I couldn't find any coal deposits anywhere in the worlds I created. And I assume that coal is a pretty staple ingredient in the game right?

Try hitting F3. It will bring up a debug screen with a lot of information on it. See if the biome says "Jungle" or "Forest". That would explain the vegetation. As far as coal goes, make yourself a pickaxe and start digging, it's underground. Or, collect some logs, make a furnace, and make charcoal.
<sigh> I guess you're all tired of hearing from me by now, but there is something definitely wrong with my copy of the game. For instance, I can't even make a craft table. IOW I put the four blocks of wood where you supposed to for making a craft table and nothing happens. When I go to chop wood, the video tutorial shows the amount appearing right away, whereas I have to chop four or five blocks before the total goes up in the box. I'm sorry to say, I'm an internet dummy and so I don't even know who to complain to about the game. Is there someone's email address that I could use? Would it help if I deleted the game and reinstalled it? BTW, I bought the game from a site named Mojang but I believe they are associated with Minecraft.net since I can login there. Am I wrong? .
You gotta mine for stuff. And not everything should be flat.
Also, there is usually a lot of vegetation...
Easiest way to figure out if legit... Did you get it here: minecraft.net
