Need some urgent HELP! Direct me to the right place, Minecraft Laggy!

Hey guys, someone help me or direct me to the right place on this forum to get answers, Minecraft used to run at 100-150fps on the same PC i am using, i havent used it in about 9 months to play MC but recently i wanted to get back into it and DLed MC and it now runs at about 35fps, can someone help me out

The lighting mechanics cheanged in 1.5, causing more lag. Turn smooth lighting to off and render distance smaller. Make graphics fast instead of fancy. Optional is to install optifine.

I changed all that and it still ran like poopoo

Well have you been downloading other games and stuff? Deleting unused items can boost performance a little.

alright i installed optifine and i get it back up to 110-120 fps but it has major lag spikes now

Well for optifine make sure to check out some of those extra settings. Those given descriptions for each setting can help out too.

the FPS fluctuates alot, ill have to see about updating my CPU or graphics card

Just one last idea is to make sure all drivers are updated. Not a good idea to buy an all new CPU or graphics card just to find out you needed to do a simple update of a driver to fix the problem.

just opened task manager, and checked performance, it uses 2.7GB of my 4GB of RAM but uses 84% of my CPU, i have told it to use both cores though
