I just downloaded this for my daughter, as she alreday has the Xbox360 and Ipad versions.
Its a win7 machine,it worked fine tghen she went back after dinner and it wouldn't log in.
It gets to the login, and the Mojang logo comes up then the whole window disapears and it goes back to the desktop. she's really frustrated and so am I.
I tried reloading minecraft, and also reloaded java, with no sucess. I do have Mcafee, but I think I disabled and had the same issues. Please help as she is very upset and I can't seem to help so far.

Click "save as", name the file minecraft-report.bat
Underneath where you put the file name there will be a pull down menu named file type, select the file type as All Files, and click save.
Make sure the bat file is in the same location as Minecraft.exe. Run the bat file that you just created. Try to duplicate the crash. Upon crashing, an error report will be created, named "log.txt". Congratulations, you have just created an error report.
Open the log.txt file
Once you have obtained the crash report, right click on it, select all and press Enter to copy, then paste it here in between code tags.
At least you can get to the mojang screen, my login just fails for no reason.
Have you made sure
1) You are 100% sure that it's the correct password,
2) The date on your computer is correct [if it's off the connection will fail], and
3) Your antivirus/firewall is not blocking minecraft?
