Hello I only ask here because I've tried everything else. I've tried Reddit and everything. I previously had a Macbook Pro and Minecraft worked flawlessly. I had to get a Lenovo Y570 (laptop) when my Macbook Pro could no longer be used. Now on here I've had nothing but trouble.
I've tried my best to update everything, as far as software. my specs are:
-Installed memory RAM: 6.8 GB
-Processor: Intel Core i5 2430M, CPU @ 2.40GHz
-64 Bit Operating System, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
-NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M, GeForce 314.07 Driver Version: 314.07 WHQL Release Date: 18.2.2013
-Java: Java Version 1.7.0_17
My issue is that I've tried to update everything and I still have issues. My issues are constant stuttering, lock ups and also sometimes my sheeps rubberband around the maps. Sometimes items drop but I can't pick them up only for like cobblestone or mined items not dropped items like beds or picaxe. I am able to play Just Cause 2, Far Cry 3, Deus Ex HR and Crysis 1 without issues yet I can't play Minecraft? This game is never a fluid motion always constant choppyness, as you can see I barely meet Far Cry 3 min requirements yet even that game is more fluid than Minecraft.
Also my Minecraft world is from 2011. is this why? I have no idea how this works, could all the materials I have be causing the major slowdowns? I tried a new world but did not really notice a difference. I have tried defragging my HD, cleaning system files and even restarting with all my devices removed and pressing power button. I restored my OS. I've had my HD replaced recently.. I just don't get it.
Yep, turn Vsync off if you have the option (optifine has) its "Vertical Sync" which for games is sometimes used when example:
Screen tearing
Screen "Buffering"
But other than that, its a huge fps eater.
I recently read a lengthy post on the effects of V-Sync (the post was from a while back, and on here), actually. It can improve performance or decrease performance depending on the graphics card.
Try this:
Go into Nvida control panel. Go into 3D options and then scroll down the 3D options untill you see "Threaded optimization" and turn it off.
Then go into your minecraft, and your going to have to "recreate" world OR create a new world. Also, optifine will be your best friend as your graphics card is a bit old, optifine will either boost your fps or keep it at 60+ with drops not being so noticable.
Again, it could be because of the world is old and many chunks are "reseting"
May I also know what specs did the macbook pro have?
Thank you very much this fixed my issue. It is as fluid as I'm guessing I can get. It is a huge overall improvemnt though and a much better experience! Thanks to everyone else for telling me about V Sync, I turned it off also.
The Macbook Pro was a while ago, it was the last alum model so I believe the specs were:
15-inch MacBook Pro
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed; or 2.5GHz or 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB L2 cache 17-inch MacBook Pro
2.5GHz or 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB on-chip shared L2 cache running 1:1 with processor speed
2GB (two 1GB SO-DIMMs) of PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB
800MHz frontside bus
15-inch MacBook Pro
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor with dual-link DVI support; 256MB of GDDR3 memory on 2.4GHz configuration; 512MB of GDDR3 memory on 2.5GHz and 2.6GHz configurations 17-inch MacBook Pro
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor with dual-link DVI support and 512MB of GDDR3 memory
I can't remember if I had 15 or 17.
Edit: Ah still same issues have returned. oh well I guess it's just my laptop. Thanks anyway everyone, this place is cool.
