Hey, I'm having this problem that I can't get the update 1.5 on my 1.4.7 Minecraft version. I only play offline, and have checked the force update button many times and restarted my computer & minecraft. Any help would be much appreciated.
Curious. Have you paid for the game? If force updating did not work, just remove all of the files in the minecraft directory and attempt to run the launcher.
I've never been able to connect to get online, my internet works fine but I get the "can't login" message. I will try deleting the files from the directory soon.

It may be a firewall blocking the connection, unless you get "Bad Login","User not Premium","Login Failed", etc.
