I'm posting for my friend, we are playing together on my server. He recently upgraded his computer by buying an ATI HD 7770 and 8 GO of RAM. He is running Windows 7 32 bits and his CPU is an Intel Pentium D 915.
Well, he can run Crysis on medium at a smooth 50 fps and when he go on Minecraft, whether on SSP or SMP, with or without mods, he's at 15 FPS max, which is nearly unplayable. He tried to disable Aero, to install Optifine, to reduce the RAM allowed, to upgrade his drivers, to update Java, and the problem is still there.
If you guys have any ideas to reduce his awful lag, please tell me, we want to play
By installing Optifine, did he just install it and play, or go through all the settings? Optifine changes nothing until you go through all the options.
Well, he put the settings on max fps, he tried to switch on tiny, to switch off all the animations and details, but it didn't change his framerate so he switched them on again.
Do you think that upgrading to 64 bit would solve the problem ? I guess he can get it somewhere but you know, it's always annoying to reinstall your OS.

Retired StaffThere's your problem. Minecraft is very intensive in in terms of cpu power as well. Considering upgrading that.
