I had to do a system restore yesterday. I picked a date just a few days ago (I had already downloaded Minecraft), But when I went to play, it did not work. I deleted the file and re-downloaded. When I go to open and play, nothing happens. at all.... no windows, no pop-ups, no permission things.... nothing. Any idea of what is going on would GREATLY be appreciated. I miss playing and it's only been 1 day. lol

Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling Java? You say you redownloaded, but how did you redownload if nothing happens? Do you mean the launcher lets you login and it downloads packages but then nothing happens or what?

Ok, here's what happens.... a play-by-play. I download Minecraft, put the icon on my desktop, double click the icon, and bam... NOTHING happens. No loading icon pops up, no pause as if something MIGHT happen.... NADA. This is what I'm not understanding. It acts as though there is no icon to click on.... that I am just double clicking my background.

Minecraft.jar is there. all is good on that part.

Does not give me option to uninstall Java.... Weird. Other than that, I cannot even get to login part.

Totally just figured it out. I needed to download a newer version of Java. Thank you rodabon for the idea. I needed to get Java SE 7. very happy right now. issue solved.
