Attempted to install minecraft forge 1.4.7 and ultimately was left with a load screen for minecraft that showed minecraft updating, and the progress bar near completion but never finishes and game does not boot. I think I forgot to unzip forge files and pasted them in to minecraft.jar. Regardless, it does not work and I did save game files so I can recover from such a blunder. How do I restore minecraft and get PC to use saved unaltered vanilla files is the question?

When we start up minecraft, we go to www.minecraft.net and our launch screen is totally different than the one we see on the visual instrucutions. What is the link to that page? How do we get there? The one we startup on has no options, force update unless we are tripping.
