Did you change your controls? Look in options > controls on the pause menu.
If you have (or had) any mods installed that might have changed around some controls.
Try restarting minecraft. If the problem persists, I suggest force-updating or re-installing your minecraft.jar. Also, as said above, mods can sometimes be the problem of these kinds of things.
