Hey all, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but it is not really minecraft support so I tried here.
This morning when I got up my virus scan had detected 5 viruses and each one was EXP/CVE-2012-1723.A.3426 exploit in minecraft.jar in the main game folder as well as my technic and feed the beast mod packs. Every one on my system seemed to have the virus.
I am using the free version of Avira Antivir and it has never had any issues with minecraft in the past. Does anyone else have the problem? My first thought is that it is a false positive since it has shown in all minecraft.jar files on my pc but I want to be sure.
I have also put a message on the antivir forums but i figured others here might be more apt to have run into this, and people there may not play minecraft. If others have this i would like to know or if you have antivir and it does not have a problem with minecraft. I'll also post back with what they say if I get an answer and others are having issues.

Did you download minecraft off of the offical website? If you did, this could be a false positive because I scan my computer all of the time and never have detected anything on minecraft. As far as mod packs go, once again make sure to download them from the official forum thread and if it still shows as infected its probably a good idea to find an alternative mod.

yea, the main game from the main site, feed the beast I got from their site and was downloaded with their launcher about 3 months ago, and the technic I got from the tekkit site back in august I think I have not used it much lately. I am pretty sure I either got some virus that is attacking minecraft or most likely they antivirus is not liking something in the minecraft.jar file.
I had almost the exact same thing happen to me and I'm using Avira as well. I have a kids account on my Win 7 box along with my own admin account. The minecraft.jar files in both my account and my kids account were all flagged with that virus. I chose to "ignore" the warning for now and wait to see if it happens again.
I am using just the plain vanilla Minecraft on my account. However, my kids have downloaded some other versions like tecnic and it marked them all as viruses.
Could it possibly be because minecraft may need to create internet connections in order to join multiplayer, and open ports in the firewall to host your own server? This may set some anti virus's off.
My virus scanner did a full scan again last night but this time it didn't flag minecraft as a virus as it did the last time it did a full scan. Whatever it was, it must have been a false positive.
