Clean Install on Ubuntu

I've messed up my minecraft. So I want to clean up and reinstall. How do I delete EVERYTHING? Then the best install guide (I can't find the one I used last week)

Why not just force update? that should clean things up for you. Not sure where the .Minecraft folder is in Ubuntu, though.

Sorry,
It stopped loading. So I deleted some stuff and tried to reload from file.

I had minecraft "download complete" with an incomplete green stripe.

I tried a diffferent way, now I have it complaing that minecraft.jar is "not marked as executable"

[for the record, I had awful problems installing MC in windows, also]
