Cannot split stacks in minecraft

Please help! The game works great but I am not able to split stacks. I am using a mac. I have tried the right click in a number of different ways. I have also tried using the shift and control keys in tandem with the right click, but nothing works. What can I do?

Go into Options, and disable Touchscreen mode. If that doesn't help, update LWJGL.
