So a few months ago, Minecraft started crashing my computer. I'll be playing for 10 or 15 minutes, then suddenly my screens will go blank. Sometimes both monitors are white, other times one will be pink and the other will be white. The only way out of it is a hard reset. Here's what I've tried.

Updating my 64 bit java & allocating 5gb of RAM
Updated my video card drivers
Turned off my second monitor
Checked CPU & GPU temp, both are reasonable when it crashes. (CPU 40c-45c GPU 50c-55c)

Specs:
Windows 7 64 Bit
i5 2500k
8GB Gskill Ripjaws
Nvidia GeForce GTX 570

I have no idea what could be causing this. Ideas?

I used the event viewer to find out that I have a Kernel Power 41 error. I tried disabling my nVidia audio drivers and I made it a good 30 minutes into a game before it did the same thing. I haven't found any other possible solutions yet.

Updating my video card drivers was the second thing I tried. No luck.

This sounds like a non-minecraft/java issue. Kernal Power 41 is just a generic 'windows shut down but doesn't know why' error. If Java has a problem it should just shut down and spit out an error report. I agree with Tedster that allocating so much RAM is crazy. You don't need more than 1GB unless you're using mods and an HD texturepack or hosting a server.

Throwing out a few ideas:

• Perhaps update your lwjgl files in case its some kind of odd sound/control issue.
• I would also check for mobo/chipset and bios updates.
• Is your power supply large enough?
• Are you running in a window? Try fullscreen to see if the issue persists.
• Remove any unnecessary peripheral devices and shut down any background programs that run to support them to remove them from the equation.
