I have been playing minecraft for over a year now and have never had this problem before... I click on minecraft, just like i have forever, and it says "This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0". So then i reinstalled java and the same thing happened. Then i cleaned my .minecraft out....Same thing. I am the owner of a server and i NEED to be on. I have been having to Skype my admins what to do that i needed done.
"Java software for your computer, or the Java Runtime Environment, is also referred to as the Java Runtime, Runtime Environment, Runtime, JRE, Java Virtual Machine, Virtual Machine, Java VM, JVM, VM, or Java download." - above link.
Java Runtime Environment is just a name for the Java software itself, so nothing different. Are you sure that you re-installed the correct version? (64-bit)
