Ever since some point last year (2012) my sounds have been weird. Its not super big, some things are muffled or distorted. I have deleted the resources folder a few times. I have a Mac Book Pro late 2011 13". Even with headphones, the game still doesn't sound right. The weirdest thing is that I can watch a youtube video of minecraft and it sounds fine. Its not a horrible problem, and I've learned to deal with it for the most part but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Try updating your java.
As far as I can tell, java is up to date.
Like I said, A minecraft video will sound fine on youtube or any other player.
