Sorry if theres a help forum area, I'm new and I looked but didn't see one if there is.
Ever since what I would assume was an update happened, I can't play MC anymore. This started almost a week ago. When I click on the icon on my desktop to open Minecraft, I get an error message from java saying that "This action requires a 1.5.0 Runtime Environment.". It leads me to a download page, but when I download it, an error ocurs and it won't work. I've tried multiple times. Somone please help!

People probably need more information to figure it out, i.e, what Windows you are running, what version of Java, etc.
Anyways, since I have never had that problem, the only thing I can suggest is reinstall Minecraft: go to .minecraft folder, delete it after backing up your worlds, and then open up the Minecraft on your desktop, it will reinstall.

Stop worrying so much,
worrying is using your imagination to create things you don't want to.
Then open up your system information via Control Panel > System & Mant > System.
Find "System Type".
If it says 32bit, download this
If it says 64bit, download this
