Hello. I have been trying to get LAN working ever since it came out and have never had success with my brothers mac. Today I tried hosting an "Open to LAN" server and my brothers mac fails to even see the Lan server in the multiplayer screen.
We are on the same network, I have allowed all javas and minecraft.exe in my firewall, and my brothers MacBook Pro (model from about 2009) has his firewall off. The only thing that may be diffrernt about our network is that it has OpenDNS on it but I have been running a public server recently so I dont think this causes problems. Anything else I can try?also the port that shows in chat is 0.0.0.0:49774also we're both running 1.4.7
it maybe because your brother has a different dns setting due to open dns, is it possible to put the dns settings to the same as on the pc and see if the server shows up?

How do I find the OpenDNS address? Would it be the part of ipconfig /all thats says DNS servers . . . . . 192.168.1.1?
