I've notice about a year ago that Minecraft doesn't seen to use all of my GPU (about 30%) and it lags compared to what I used to be able to do.
Before 1.9 beta I used to get great FPS now with more later versions I get a lot of very quick lag spikes when mining but not placing blocks, and my average is around 40 FPS. I used to be able to get around 200+. Any one might know why this is?
Specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
AMD Radeon HD 6800
Intel Core i7 960 @ 3.20GHz
16 GB ram

Go into video settings and change FPS settings to Max FPS. I have no idea how good your Graphics Card is. Your graphics card and java all updated?
