Hello everyone, I'm having a problem in my server. It started about three days ago when the spawn town had become very laggy. I usually get 300 FPS but recently in this area I get 30 and others have reported the same. The only change I've made to my server in the last few days was switching it from Windows Server to Ubuntu Linux. This is a very annoying problem and all help will be appreciated.
If you want to see what I mean connect to: mc.JimsServer.net
it lags only in that one area.
can run the server with more and run minecraft with more as well. it needs it there is ALOT of stuff going on there and like you said youre lagging. thats why. also lower your render distance and turn down some graphics green arrow if i helped =)
Thank you for the help but for some odd reason, the spawn point was causing lag, I set it to a far away region and set it back to its original spot and all the lag was gone. However you did help me because I've been meaning to look up that Java command to add an extra 4 GB of RAM to the server. Thank you sir!
For anyone else having this "lag at spawn".. I suggest going into server.properties and setting the following value to 0...
spawn-protection=0
I found that having this vanilla protection combined with any other protection such as Safezone from Factions, or Worldguard will create a massive FPS drop.

Thanks for the help but, I already set it to 0. It's really annoying, every update will lag the spawn world for a few weeks and then the chunks will go back to normal while some remain. They come and go, and it's always near the spawn. I removed 500+ Item Frames from our spawn world and it fixed the lag but it was only temporary.

You can look at it right here too.

Somethings we think it could be is
-The //SetBiome command
-A corrupt chunk.
-Too many item frames
**This is not a server-side issue because I have tested the map in single player and the lag still occurs in this area.
Examples:
1GB = 1024
2GB = 2048
3GB = 3072
4GB = 4096
12GB=12288
