I've recently been having problems with the LAN, and it seems to be affecting only Minecraft. Me and my cousin have been trying to play over the LAN (yes, he is up at my house), but it won't work. We thought that it was because of the mods we where using, such as the Familiars mod and Secret Rooms, but even after we remove those, the game still refuses to detect our LAN. The only mod we have is Custom NPCs, but that was working over the LAN yesterday, the problem has only risen today. However, we can still LAN on games such as Counter-Strike. Please help.

What kind of error message do you get? Try to completely wipe your .minecraft (save it somewhere else) and do a fresh start, and see what happens.

I'm not getting any error message. The LAN server just doesn't appear on the server list.

EDIT: It appears that only my cousin's PC is having this issue. My brother's PC can join my LAN, and I can join his.

Check the firewall on your cousin's computer, turn it off temporarily, just to see what happens.

I'll give that a try. Another thing: I can't seem to force update minecraft, as whenever I do, it crashes at start up. :/

Force update your minecraft, if it doesn't work, try to connect both of the computers directly into the modem.
And, make sure, you're on the same version, could you post here a error message?

I've everything you guys have told me, I know his PC is plugged into the modem, I tried enabling Minecraft, Java, and some more thing through the firewall, but it just refuses to connect to the LAN.
