Every time the game updates, I have problems with the game sound. I can tell from the play/create world page whether or not the game sound will be screwed up because no button clicks make any noise, and after I log in, foot steps, hitting blocks, animals, picking up items and many other sounds will not work.
The resources folder never downloads correctly, and in the past I've been forced to download it from someone else to drag the files I need into that folder. But now with v. 1.4.7, not even the downloaded folder works and the original resource folder only downloads with sound3 folder inside.
I get the same issue no matter what I do. I can delete .minecraft from my computer completely, go to the website, download new installer, and STILL the game has no sound. Why would it download for me with no sound every single time? It makes no sense. How can I download the game missing sound files every single time yet everyone else downloads it fine?
Someone please help because this issue has been going on pretty much since I bought the game in 2010, and now with v. 1.4.7 I can't even play with sound, and no previous fixes seem to work.
Other posts to this site go through steps needed to: refresh OpenAL32.dll and OpenAL64.dll; to check antivirus settings; to recopy resources folder; etc. What worked for me was to uninstall java 64-bit, and install java 32-bit. Don't know why it's an issue with this particular PC - it's new and running Win-7x64.

Try running the game using command prompt.
Steps;
1. Start > (Run for Windows XP) > Search for cmd > hit enter.
2. Put your minecraft launcher (EXE file) in the desktop.
3. Type in cd desktop
4. Write this code down and push enter;
java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar "Minecraft.exe"
If this doesn't work then please tell me your operating system along with your computer bits (64, 32).
