Hello!
So I'm not new to Minecraft, I've played a lot before and now within the past month have gotten back into it.
While playing on someone else's server I messed around with maps a bit, though I don't think I had created a brand new map, only made existing maps bigger.
Anyways, my problem is that I just made a brand new map for my own world that I just started, and I walked to where I wanted the center to be and opened it; however, instead of the arrow representing me being in the middle, it is off to the side. And instead of a small circle of area generating around me and the rest of the map being blank, almost the whole entire map is filled and it's very zoomed in. I have not moved since I opened the map and I took a screenshot for reference:
So am I crazy or is my map messed up? And if it is, how do I fix it?
Also I thought I heard someone saying something about being able to zoom in on your map with CTRL, so i thought that might be the problem, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
It seems that the map has been opened before - or that there was a map centered where it is now and was just a datafile.
If you craft another map and have the same problem then I'll be damned.
Oh okay.
And nope. I created the map, walked to the spot where I wanted center to be, held it in my hand and it showed as me holding a blank map and then I right clicked and it generated like the image above. I did not move from my spot and took a screenshot.
Just to double check, I made a brand new map, put it in spot 8, it was still blank when I selected it and the same thing happened.
To triple check I walked to a different spot in the world and opened Another map. Same kind of result.
*sigh*
P.s. this world is only a few days old. The map being referenced in this post is the only map ever created so it can't be from the datafile of an old map.

Force updating did not solve the problem
