I personally think it's in bad taste to have my first post here be about troubleshooting, but I'm in a somewhat unique position, I guess, and I want this to work out.
On my desktop, Minecraft runs fine and dandy. I have a spare laptop that I use when I have to, and I thought it'd be nice to play Minecraft on the go. Unfortunately, right after it finished downloading the stock .jar, I'm hit with a black screen, followed soon thereafter by the terrible "Bad Video Card Drivers!" / "Accelerated OpenGL Mode" error.
Like most other users, I'm sure, I went ahead and looked up my drivers from the manufacturer, in this case, ATI; couldn't find it, but that's when I found out that laptops from Sony have specially commissioned drivers. So, I went to find new drivers from the Sony website applicable to my model, picked the latest one, installed, rebooted.
Still got the same message.
I did some basic Google-Fu to see if there were some more complex solutions; so far, I've tried reinstalling the driver, and (found from another post on this forum, albeit in Legacy) I've also tried "forcing Windows to recognize the new OpenGL driver" by deleting the original registry branch labelled under ATI - it didn't work, so I reverted to my original registry and reinstalled the driver again for good measure. Still, black screen and error message. Now, I turn to you guys.
If you need more information, I'll be more than happy to divulge. The following is the Error Message:

Thanks - it's because of your saying that I'm using the WDDM driver that I actually looked at it; turns out, Windows 8 doesn't like to install video drivers, instead opting to use the Microsoft stock ones instead. Some digging was done, and I found the proper solution on this very forum; basically, I had to go to the device manager and update it by hunting the file down myself. Works fine so far
