This is perhaps one of the strangest things I've encountered with minecraft.
I have a Cooler Master Storm inferno mouse which I use to play minecraft with absolutely no problems, on windows anyway.
I've recently been trying to finally cut out Microsoft, for a number of reasons, so I've been running on kubuntu 12.04. However, recently, when I installed minecraft, I get this very odd lag. On average I get between 60 and 70 fps and I can walk in a straight line all day and get absolutely no lag; but, when i turn, the fps litterally drops to 0 for as long as the mouse is in motion.
My guess is that minecraft can't handle the number of responses the mouse is giving or something but i honestly have no idea.
I've tried updating lwjgl but to no avail.
To sum things up: (EDITED) OS: Kubuntu 12.04, All packages up to date as of 2/15/13 Mouse: Cooler Master Storm Inferno Minecraft Version: 1.4.7 LWJGL Version: 2.8.5 (Most Recent and more up to date than what minecraft comes with) Java Version: Oracle JRE 7u13 Graphics Card: nvidia GTX 465 with most recent nvidia driver, installed through jockey RAM: 10 GB of DDR3 1333/1600 CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 640, Quad-core 3.00 GHz Problem: Serious lag, but only when moving the mouse but it works just fine with other mice.
I've already tried. Also worth mentioning that when using any other mouse, it works just fine.
Of course, I'd rather use my nice mouse so I would like to fix it.
I'm using the default mouse configuration for kubuntu 12.04. Hopefully you are aware that linux doesn't really operate the same when it comes to "drivers."
I have and AMD Athlon II x4 7-something-or-other: Quad-core, 3.0 GHz
I've got 10 GB of DDR3 1333/1600 (mixed) RAM.
My FPS on linux, when the mouse isn't moving, is comprable to windows. I'll add this information to my summary...
