I am having issues when playing minecraft (on my laptop) with my external keyboard. When I try and hold W to walk, it moves my character forward aprox. 3-5 blocks before it stops moving again (idles out) and I have to stop holding the key, and press down again. Same thing happens when Double-Tapping W to sprint.
Is their anyway to fix it? I'm not sure if its minecraft related, or not. But is it a Windows problem or minecraft? Because using the hardware keyboard on my laptop does not cause this issue.
I think it's LWJGL (LightWeightJavaGameLibrary) that needs updating.
Please use the updater on this page.
Sorry to get back to you this late but I have updated the LWJGL library to the latest version and am still getting the same issues. I may be imagining things but I'm getting even more. Now, it is practicaly impossible (for example) for me to swim up and jump out of the water onto a block. I can not be pressing two different keys at the same times or all on going movement stops. Its the same thing for when climbing up a ladder and trying to close a trap door behind me or moving onto a block on the left. I simply can not do both at the same time. This is really annoying and I have no idea how to fix this. :3 Any other suggestions?
Update: It seems Shift-Clicking does not work 90% of the time. So shift clicking to auto move items and for picking stacks of 64 does not work ether. However, right click for splitting stacks works (since it is not a keyboard control).
Is this a USB keyboard? You might look into some of your power settings or even the bios to see if there is some kind of setting that would cause the USB connection to stop responding/time out.
The computer is an old laptop that can not be moved so I
Consider it a desktop (in a way). But as far as the keyboard goes, I was not having any problems with the computers built in keyboard until some keys stopped working, so I switched to my witless keyboard and mouse, both use the Microsoft witless hub that is connected via USB. The computer BIOS has very limited control and options and nothing regarding external hardware and USB connections.
Now on note of the antivirus, I use avast free and had no issues with playing with the built in keyboard and has never caused me any problemes with any devices so I highly doubt it has anything to do with that. Furthermore, the idle timeout/stop sending commands takes place after ~2 seconds, so I don't think it's the computer cutting of the power/data connection. I believe the issue comes from windows or some program that blocks holding down o a leu for to long as an error; kinda like stick keys but opposite Probleme.
Have you tried disabling the laptops built in keyboard to see if the issue goes away? You should be able to do this in the device manager. While you're at it disable the touchpad also. It could be that these other input devices are interrupting somehow.

Any ways of easily fixing this?

Curse PremiumSometimes other software like security software can cause issues. See this recent thread as an example: http://www.minecraft...-control-issue/

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
