Hey All,
I've recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and since the I have been unable to play Minecraft by using the .exe or the website. However I have no problems when using the .jar. I can run fine in offline mode but that makes it really difficult to connect to servers and so isn't a viable option. I can't just leave it with the .jar either as I find it very sluggish to use.
Windows Firewall has been disabled, and I have tried pinging www.minecraft.net which resulted in 100% loss (timed out).
I've run the batch error thingy (trademark pending, I'm sure) with the following result:

Thanks Tedster, but I don't think that's the problem. I mainly log into someone elses world and none of the others are having any problems. Plus minecraft.jar file seems to work fine logging in, other than being a little sluggish.
