I decided to to use the new snapshot since it's now bug fixes, my world is hardcore, I have noticed that spawners need more light now to deactivate ( a lot more light) and that when i broke my jukebox (that i got legitly) and my music disc that was in it, the game crashed this is the error report:

Also, smooth lighting use to never really cause so much FPS drop, but with it on, i have like 4 FPS, with it off, I have my normal 30ish FPS
Ya, a lot of people seem to be getting some major FPS drops that could be related to new lighting fixes. The Jukebox crash was supposed to be fixed in snapshot 13w03a, but that was for jukeboxes with no record inside. Maybe they introduced a new bug? That seems to happen a lot, when they fix one bug, they introduce a similar one :). As far as spawners go, my previous spawner setups seem to work the same, being able to turn them on and off with lighting. I'm not sure why it would be different for you.
To stop a spawner i use to be able to put 1 torch on top of the spawner and torchs on the side, worked fine for the like 40 hours of gameplay i have with my hc character, i decided to insall 13w05a because it seemed they had tons of bug fixes, and 1 skele kept spawning from the skele spawner each time it ticked, had to add one more torch infront of the spawner where i had an opening
