I have the following:
Microsoft Windows 8 (build 9200), 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz
CPU 2.4 GHz
RAM 4.0 GB
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Realtek High Definition Audio
Free Space422.7 GB
Java 7 Update 11 (build 1.7.0_11-b21)
NOTE :Microsoft Windows 8 does not support plug-ins in the Start screen and therefore Java will not run in the Start screen. You will have to switch to the Desktop screen to run Java.

I have tried to run the minecraft demo, but all I get is the following:

Activate Java TM Platform SE 7 U plug-in
(Apparently there are security issues with the plug-in)

I actvate the plug-in and then get

Application Error
Class Not Found Exception
net.minecraft.launcher

I really want to buy minecraft for my son, but I don't want to get it and have it not work on this computer.
Is there a way to get minecraft to work on this computer?!!?

The one thing I do know is that Kaspersky's banner blocker can cause download issues.
