New-ish to minecraft. Recently had to replace my hd on my Mac OS 10.6 system, I copied the Library/Application Support/minecraft folder from my old hd onto the new one, but it still doesn't load my game. It crashes upon trying to load. I also rebooted my computer. My guess is that I haven't copied everything that is necessary over. Help would be appreciated, thanks!

Try updating Java.
Operating System: Mac OS X (x86_64) version 10.6.8
Java Version: 1.6.0_37, Apple Inc.
Java VM Version: Java HotSpotâ„¢ 64-Bit Server VM (mixed mode), Apple Inc.
Actually the Java for 10.6 OSX gets automatically updated with the regular software updater. I checked that out and they say that my Java software is up to date. (Java 7 isn't supported on 10.6)
java.lang.RuntimeException: Failed to check session lock, aborting.
The session lock file are in your .minecraft/saves/<world> directories, If it is having trouble with this, I suspect that the permissions on your library are not correct.
I'm not a Mac user so I'm not sure what they are supposed to be, but I'm guessing that when you copied you didn't preserve the ownership and now everything is owned by root or admin or whatever Mac admin mode account you used to do the copy.
Ok yes I reinstalled Minecraft according to those instructions, and I think gerbil is right about the permissions thing. I went and repaired the permissions on my drive but there are loads of errors related to Java still. I think I might have to take this machine back to the Genius bar or whatever to get this figured out. In the meantime I guess I could always remove and reinstall Java...

Retired StaffThere is a guide to how to do that here.
