Hi,
my 10 year old son, who loves Minecraft PE on our iPad, would like to spend his pocket money and buy Minecraft for our home computer. Having read this forum, and the FAQs, I'm really unsure whether our computer would run Minecraft (mostly due to the graphics requirement). Before he spends his money, please could someone advise whether it would run on our computer? Many thanks.
We have a:

This computer exceeds the minumum, my laptop runs it fine on a Intel Atom 1.9 GHZ, and it has much more RAM.
Just make sure you update drivers, and probably use optifine, as said above.
Thanks, both of you. Yes, I was relatively sure that the processor and memory would be enough, but I was worried about the graphics card - or rather, lack of graphics card, instead the on-board Intel HD graphics. From the wiki in which the hardware requirements are listed, I rather thought that Minecraft might need a dedicated and reasonably powerful graphics card. There are a number of posts on this forum also where people comment about problems even with modern graphics cards.
But you think the onboard graphics will run it well enough (at least, for a 10-year old) to play?
You can always check http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri It will detect what your Pc specs are (doesnt work on mac) and will say if you pass or meet the recommended requirements, Hope this helps

Thanks - hadn't heard of that website. Ran the test, and it said that the computer should be fine (but did recommend upgrading the graphics). I guess we are about to install Minecraft and lose all access to our computer as the children take it over...!

Haha, No problem, It shouldn't be necessary to upgrade the graphics card, you can try updating it depending on the type of card depends on how you do it, but you should be able to find out online through youtube or whatever which may help it run if it does have any problems but aslong as the processor and ram passes it should be able to run just fine!
