Hey guys, a friend of mine has a problem with his MC where he gets massive lag when he tries to join the server we play on, making the game unplayable for him. We've been playing MC for a long long time and it's only recently that this huge lag of his started occuring. We think that the problem is with the loading of chunks. Upon checking the debug screen in game (F3) beside the "C:" letter which I think means number of chunks loaded over total number of chunks, his were about ##/4500 when me and a few others are getting around ##/1200. Would this mean that he is loading a lot more chunks than us and that could be the cause of the lag? He's tried reinstalling his Minecraft client, fresh without mods but that didn't work. Restarting the server doesn't help either. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as we're very very dedicated MC players
Have him try to reduce the render distance in the options menu, this will reduce the area he is attempting to load (just for debugging purposes use tiny, see how many load, then step it up) keep track of which setting the lag gets unbearable, then go to the previous setting that worked.
