I have a rather strange problem with my OS X Minecraft client. (or server, I don't know)
I threw together a new server the other day and tossed a copy of Ubuntu Linux onto it, tossed the box beside my couch and plugged it into my router. My roommates and friends connect to it using hamachi.
For them the server works great! No problems connecting to it for anyone.
Except for me (kind of). The server works fine on my Windows partition.
THE PROBLEM IS: When I try to load the sever on my OS X partition, I spawn in and just begin to fall. It doesn't load a floor, or any other players/NPCs. After falling for a brief period of time I disconnect. During the time I fall, I cant communicate with anyone via chat, or enter any operator commands. The server does however recognize that I logged in, as you can see it in the terminal on the Linux machine, plus it displays in the chat to anyone who's logged in at the time.
NOW I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING: I would happily just run Minecraft on my Windows partition if Windows didn't completely suck at it. Despite being on the lowest video settings possible, Minecraft still lags (god forbid full screen) and has major frame rate issues. We're talking the exact same hardware for my OS X partition. It runs brilliantly on max settings.
I know there's nothing wrong with the server, and what confuses me more is that my roommate is also running a macbook pro, which works fine for him running OS X, just as it always has.
It's such a bizarre problem I have no idea where to look. The only thing I figure that it might be is because I'm running mountain lion and he isn't, however other servers still load fine on here.
I'm not good with Mac, but do you get any kind of error report? For example does anything show in the console if you do the following?:
Applications>Utilities>Console:
Click 'All messages' in side bar and 'Clear display' in tool bar
Open Minecraft, trigger the problem, click into the Console window and select all (⌘A), copy and paste here
Omg thank you. I didn't even think to look at the console. I noticed hamachi was freaking out every time i tried to connect, which led me to the conclusion my hamachi installation was corrupted despite the fact it seemed to be working fine. Re-install of hamachi fixed the issue. Thanks!

I can't take credit. I shamelessly borrowed that tip from Sko's excellent Mac help tutorial in the tutorials section. Glad it helped though!

Any help would be appreciated.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
