Today my friend and I got a server to use. He lives just across town and yet I cannot connect! He's given me 4 ip's (all different) with and without ports to try to connect. [**.169.86.72:25565 and ***.168.1.22.25565 (take of ports)] We have tried everything and I still can't get in! We both thinks its a client error now, so any suggestions on what will help?
The issue is (from what I can see) IP's ending with 168 are likely internal IP's, has your friend port forwarded? He needs to go to google and type in 'IP' and use that address instead.

He has port forwarded. :25565. He also lives across town, so why can I connect to a server in California, but not across town? I usually get one bar of connectivity in the event I can accutally get on.
