Before you have a go at me saying there are many posts already addressing this issue, I know there are threads on this forum addressing this issue. I've read through them, and there are unclear answers for me, and when there is a clear answer, it still doesn't work. This has been happening, I would say since after 1.0.0, maybe late beta such as 1.8.1 or a 1.9 pre release. It is ever more frequent in 1.2 however, but it has happened before. If your still hazy over the issue, I shall give an overall explanation on my experience with it.
Please also note I may be wrong, I'm no computer expert. I'm looking for the answers, I'm just giving as much as I can to pinpoint the whole issue once and for all.
What is it?
Upon playing the game, I experience the keys to randomly get 'stuck'. Not literally, my keyboard is fine, I've checked. It's when in game you move a certain direction without even pressing that specific key.Forwards and moving right seems to be the most common with me. Also, I have had an encounter where the shift key is stuck, as well as the space key. This results in constant jumping/sneaking. It seems to also happen in both survival and creative equally.
Is it my computer?
It could possibly be, but again, this is where I'm most uncertain. The actual keyboard is fine. There has been no hardware faults. There have been many conflicting arguments with the issue. Some say it's a bug within Minecraft, others say it's to do with the computer. It doesn't happen to everybody...
Saying that, it isn't my computers performance that is letting me down. I have the newest Macbook Pro with retina display.
Is this a Hardware issue, software issue, or neither?
If it is a computer related problem, it is more likely software in the OS. I don't regularly play Minecraft on the Mac side, more often I play on Windows. I get this issue only on Mac - I am sure this isn't a Hardware fault.
So is it an OS Bug?
No, I am sure it isn't - I have seen no proof to claim it is. If you have proof, I'd be thankful if you could help me with it.
But is it Minecraft bug?
This is my reason I am assuming it is something to do with Minecraft. I never get this fault on any other game I play on. But Minecraft is the only game I properly know I play on, that runs Java. This is where I think Java could run into it.
So then there must be a Java solution, right?
Well, just a few moments ago I thought there was. But it didn't work. It was updating the lwjgl java files. To 2.8.3, its 'current' state. I backed up the previous lwjgl files, got the 'new updated ones' and replaced them. But one minute in, the stuck keys issues play up again. This did not fix it.
The solutions I have tried so far, but didn't work [As well as suspected problems]
The issue still seems unanswered to many of these problems. I am to be quite literal, annoyed. It's an annoying bug which isn't 100% clear on which issue it is. Is it Minecraft or Software? I have tried to include as much information as I could for you, so a general heads up in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
The same thing happens to me on windows XP, I've tried changing to many different versions of LWJGL and the bug keeps happening, it's very frustrating and I know that it never used to happen.
It'd be lovely to get a solution to this, it's a pretty significant problem.
I had this same problem on 2.3GHz i7 Retina Macbook Pro - osX 10.8.3.
For whatever reason, after trying removing bin dir, replacing lwjfl files, etc., what finally fixed this for me was closing iterm. For some reason, having iterm open while Minecraft was open was the issue.
